I might have been crying about some stuff and it came up when he was trying to tell me how dumb I was being.

But I also kinda guessed from what you said and the way the two of you act.

Yeah. My boyfriend is also not going to make it where he comes from, and I'm not so sure about myself, either. So I know ... there's little things you do, that you might not otherwise. In a "let's make the most of this while we still can" kind of way.

Well, yeah. The first step is usually, "I shouldn't bother doing anything, there's no point because I'm a goner and I probably won't be here very long, so I'm just going to hold back and pretend like I have no feelings."

Then, we move on to step two, which is "Maybe I should take this chance while I have it and admit that I actually have a lot of feelings, and do everything I possibly can before time runs out."

Well, my opinion is that you're trying to be at step two, but you're naturally inclined to stay at step one.

I've been there lots of times, for a couple of different reasons. I don't think it's so obvious to everyone else.

It can be pretty tough to get out of the habit of holding back. That's what Jojo was telling me I was being dumb about, actually.

I think you just have to think about it like, if I left tomorrow, is there anything I would regret not doing? And then make sure to do those things as best you can.
